The Book of Acts - Act V: Rome'n Around

The Sunrise Hope Presents The Book of Acts - Act 5: Rome'n Around The Book of Acts is a folk musical telling the story of the New Testament book of Acts from the Bible. This is the fifth and final act. This is the story, told in the genre of folk music, of the start of the Christian church after the ascension of Jesus to heaven. In act five, Paul is arrested by a Roman commander after a riot breaks out in the city. The Jews want Paul dead! Paul asks the commander to speak to the crowd. He then tells the crowd his testimony concerning his meeting with Jesus, the Light, on the road to Damascus. The crowd breaks out into a riot again after Paul proclaims Jesus as the long awaited Messiah. Fearing for Paul's life, the commander orders Paul to be taken into the barracks. He then finds out that Paul is a Roman citizen, and he wants to figure out why the Jews want to kill Paul. So the next day he released him and ordered the chief priests and all the members of the Sanhedrin to assemble. Then he brought Paul and had him stand before them. Paul explains his testimony to the Sanhedrin, but they think he speaks blasphemy. Once again, the Roman commander must rescue Paul from the wrath of the Jews. The following night the Lord stood near Paul and said, “Take courage! As you have testified about me in Jerusalem, so you must also testify in Rome.” The Jews come up with a plot to ambush and kill Paul. The commander finds out about this plot, rescues Paul from the clutches of the Jews, and writes a letter to His Excellency, Governor Felix. Paul is then transferred to Caesarea. sp that the governor can hear his case. Paul stands before Governor Felix in a trial after his accusers arrive in Caesarea. Paul's verdict remains in limbo after the hearing, and Felix leaves Paul in prison for two years. During this time Felix is succeeded by Porcius Festus. Paul then makes his defense as he stands trial before Festus. During the trial, Paul makes an appeal to Caesar, and he still proclaims his innocence to the charges the Jews are bringing before Festus. Festus agrees to the appeal and consults King Agrippa. Paul makes his defense before King Agrippa. Agrippa sees no evidence that makes Paul worthy of death or imprisonment, so he orders Paul to set sail for Rome in order to appeal to Caesar. During the voyage to Rome, a storm named the Northeaster causes Paul's vessel to become shipwrecked. Not a single casualty is reported, and all 276 men make it safely ashore on an island called Malta. The islanders help the crew and provide shelter and fire for them. Paul heals the islander chief's father and several other islanders. The islanders honored the crew in many ways, and let the crew use a ship to continue their voyage to Rome. When the crew arrived in Rome, Paul was allowed to live by himself, with a soldier to guard him. Paul then continues his ministry in Rome, telling many Roman citizens and soldiers of the good news of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. It is not known whether or not Paul ever stood before Caesar. However, for two whole years Paul stayed there in his own rented house and welcomed all who came to see him. Boldly and without hindrance he preached the kingdom of God and taught about the Lord Jesus Christ. And the Rising Son still shines to this very day. 00:00 - Scene 1: Paul Arrested 01:03 - Scene 2: I Saw the Light 07:55 - Scene 3: Paul, the Roman Citizen 09:30 - Scene 4: Paul Before the Sanhedrin 11:43 - Scene 5: The Plot to Kill Paul 16:15 - Scene 6: Paul Transferred to Caesarea 18:37 - Scene 7: The Trial Before Felix 22:19 - Scene 8: Paul Put in Prison 23:10 - Scene 9: The Trial Before Festus 24:23 - Scene 10: Paul's Appeal to Caesar 26:54 - Scene 11: Festus Consults King Agrippa 27:29 - Scene 12: Paul Before King Agrippa 28:47 - Scene 13: Paul's Defense Before King Agrippa 35:20 - Scene 14: Outcome of the Trial Before King Agrippa 36:53 - Scene 15: Paul Sails for Rome 38:23 - Scene 16: The Northeaster 46:14 - Scene 17: Ashore on Malta 46:59 - Scene 18: All Honor to God 50:40 - Scene 19: Arrival at Rome 51:51 - Scene 20: Paul Preaches in Rome 54:25 - Scene 21: Paul's Ministry in Rome
